II Timothy 2:15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

"Not Religion but a Relationship"

The “ 3 P’s “ of the Gospel

The Problem (SIN)

Romans 3:23 (NASB) states, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;” This means we have missed the mark of perfect righteousness that is required to have a relationship with God.  We can never be good enough (Isaiah 64:6)

THE PENALTY (Spiritual Death)

Romans 5:12 (NASB) states, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death spread through sin and so death spread among all men, because all sinned.”  This means that when Adam sinned through disobedience to God, he developed a sin nature that is passed on to all of his offspring.  This makes all of mankind spiritually dead, separated from God in time and eternity to come.  Man is appointed once to die and then the judgment (Hebrews 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10)

THE PROVISION (Jesus Christ)

Romans 5:8 (NASB) states, “But God demonstrates His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.   (John 3:16; Acts 4:12; 16:31)  This means we are saved by grace “if” we accept the precious and righteous gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; 2 Peter 3:9).

Your Eternal Destiny: A Faith Decision

FIVE QUESTIONS THAT LEAD TO A POINT OF DECISION

1.  Are you a sinner?

2.  Do you want forgiveness for your sins?

3.  Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?

4.  Are you willing to surrender your life to Christ?

5.  Are you ready to accept Him as your Savior and let Him lead your life?

Sample "Prayer of Salvation"

                                                               Heavenly Father,

I understand that I am a sinner, I believe that Jesus Christ
took my place on the cross and died for my sins and that He
rose from the dead.  I am now believing in Christ as my
personal Savior to give me eternal life.
This I ask in Jesus' name.

The Essence of God

Most people will receive much needed comfort and confidence in knowing the certainty of their forgiveness due to the work of Christ on the the cross and His present work on our behalf as our Divine Defense Attorney and Intercessor.

SERIES:     THREE LETTERS FROM THE APOSTLE JOHN

LESSON 6:   BELIEF IN THE CERTAINTY OF FORGIVENESS (Part A)

Memory Verse—“My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.  And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” 1 John 2:1 (NASB)

I.                  THE FATHER MAKES PROVISIONS NOT TO SIN                  1 John 2:1a

II.               THE FATHER PROVIDED A DIVINE ADVOCATE                 1 John 2:1b

Doctrine of Jesus Christ as our Divine Defense Attorney

1.      The believer continues to sin after salvation. There is no such thing as sinless perfection, inherent or acquired goodness of man. 1 John 1:8, 10; Jeremiah 17:9

2.      Satan accumulates a sin file on every believer by means of his demons (fallen angels) and periodically accuses the believer in the court of heaven. Job. 1:6-11; Zech. 3:1-2; Rev. 12:9

3.      Jesus Christ is retained as the believer’s defense attorney in the court of heaven and He defends every case. 1 John 2:1

4.      The basis for our Lord’s defense is the fact that all sins were judged on the cross by God the Father after they were imputed to Christ. When our sins are mentioned by Satan in heaven our Lord simply says, ‘That sin was judged at the cross.’ 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24

5.      God the Father, then, judged our sins on the cross. Psalms 22:1-6; 1 Peter 3:18

6.      Under the law of double jeopardy they cannot be judged again. Romans 6:10. Therefore, the believer is defended in heaven from Satan and Satan’s desire to destroy that believer.

7.      Therefore every case is thrown out of court by God the Father. Zechariah 3:1-2

8.      The sins of every believer therefore become not a court matter, but a family matter for the administration of divine discipline. Hebrews 12:6; 1 Corinthians 11:31-32
